About Thorsten
I originally come from Germany and left for Australia when I was just 13 years of age. Having learned English for a year and then completing High School, it was the most exciting time. New country, new culture, new language.
I have been an IT Technician and Computer Support person in previous jobs (Microbits and Surpass Computers), so when I first started at Ireckon, I was basically thrown into the deep end of all things website and online services.Having had a computer since the Atari 600XL came out (I was about 9 or 10), I have always been fascinated with them. Since then, I've had the Atari 800XL, Commodore64, IBM 286, all the way through to what we have these days. I never went the Apple Mac way, although many have tried to convert me! :)
During my work as a Technician, I realised I actually enjoyed helping people solve problems and sort out their computer issues, this is when I decided to change my career path to Technical and Customer Support. Although it has its good and bad moments, it provides a new and different challenge every day.
I have other passions, which include working on my car, watching movies, going out with with friends, feeding my WoW addiction, and resisting getting an Apple iPhone.
What Thorsten Does
Each day holds different challenges. However the usual day involves answering phone calls, processing emails from our clients that request updates to their websites, answering any Online Support requests, looking after the computer equipment in the office and testing software.
On occasion I help clients with technical issues such as email and domain problems, website issues and train clients on new tools that we have setup for their website.
