About Darryl

I started ireckon in 1998 after nearly 4 years of running the internet products at Brisbane company RP Data. I first got hooked on the web before browsers came along, and I guess that just showed I had a weird fascination with data and information sharing.

I love the way technology can provide a communication platform to break down flat world thought and open up the universe to a totality of possibilities.

Over the years since we set ireckon up as 3 people under my house, I have been through the highs and lows of running my own business and several highs and lows in the web space. Through it all though the purpose we set out to achieve hasn't changed.

I used to have to do a lot of what the great team here now does, my favourite areas being SEO, Information Architecture and Interface Design. Though I have had to manage Linux servers, code in PHP and normally make sure the office gets cleaned.

What Darryl does

I get to work with people every day and help them to use the web for their profit (and mine too), but more than that I love to get immersed in how they do business and what technology can do to help. In many cases I spend time talking business not web, but having a passion for what I do and a few dollops of salesman in my bloodstream means I can’t but ask hundreds of questions to understand what people do.

These days I work as account manager for some of our clients, am definitely our full-time social media consultant and still manage new products. It's a full time job but someone has to do it ;).
